Posted by on 09.06.2016

John Clifford, former New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, joins us this week to talk about his career and share stories of George Balanchine.  John was a dancer with NYCB from 1966-1974 and also choreographed eight works for the company.  Mr. Clifford had a very close relationship with Balanchine, and we are thrilled to have him share him memories with us today.

  1. John, This is Thomas Grant Weaver, former dancer, former press assistant under Virginia Donaldson at NYCB and acquaintance of yours — sharing conversatons, meals in the Village and the guy, skinny guy who stayed in your flat on, was 65th street, while you were setting Rubies on the Paris Opera dancers. Remember me, perhaps from Violette, as her con amore for a time in the 1990s. Any way just want to thank you for doing what you are doing by bring all us dance fanatics precious jewels from the past. YES, TRICKS ARE JUST TRICKS, ARTISTRY IS ANOTHER DEMINSION OF ARTISTRY. Would be lovely to hear from you. Am now living very quietly and peacefully in Costa Rica — Purda Vida Land. So sad to have lost Sean eaarlier this year. Best to you dear friend. Be in touch through this machine, atyour convenience.

    All the best. Tommy

  2. Awesome, you guys!

    • Thanks Marc! 🙂
