Opening Weekend 2011-2012 Season

Posted by on 10.20.2011

Friday evening marks the official beginning of Miami City Ballet’s 2011-2012 season. Here we go, another beginning to another exciting season.

Program I brings South Floridians a peak of our Paris tour this past July.  George Balanchine’s Square Dance will open the evening with precise and energetic steps showing off the dancers’ technique.  After the first intermission, the audience will find themselves delighted by Jerome Robbins Afternoon of a Faun and Christopher Wheeldon’s Liturgy. The evening will end with Twyla Tharp’s extraordinary In The Upper Room, which is always a crowd pleaser!

Tomorrow night, I am going to have the opportunity to watch my peers dazzle onstage from a cozy seat in the audience.  I have not been able to watch an entire evening of Miami City Ballet dancing since my first year in the company.  Needless to say, I am thrilled to be able to support my co-workers by showering them with cheers and applause.

Merde everyone!
